scars.
i like.
for they have meaning.
markers of past, reminders that last.
scars of birth; marks of light; mother's milk. progeny pride.
pristine slice, precious brand, stained skin, shrinking gangrene.
scars.
i loathe.
for they mean nothing.
signs of vileness, symbols of evilness.
shreds of mind, eyes of dread; tyrannous truth, damaging dread.
burning shrapnel, bullet tumbling, tearing tissue, ripping reason.

It depends on what you choose to associate with the scars and what you learn from them.
I came back to see what was new - I read this again and the couplet "shrinking gangrene" really stands out to me as genius when describing a scar.
hey rub the scars off. post something now. I am waiting. I have pposted ( infact revamped my blog ) after a long long hiatus
I love the poem - deep as always. I hope all is well. Post soon. ;)

Edith,
If you're still around the blogosphere, which I hope you are, let me know if you still want to read my blog, onset of reality. It's been privatized b/c I applied for a new job and didn't want them googling me and finding all my indiscretions. Just post here and I'll find it if you want to be a member.
thanks,
